Hello, my name is Anita. I am a BACP Accredited Integrative Counsellor, Clinical Supervisor, EMDR Practitioner, and Accredited Rewind Technique Practitioner and Trainer, with more than 20 years’ experience.

I provide counselling and trauma therapy for adults, children, young people, couples and professionals. I am based in Cumbria, where I offer face-to-face counselling and clinical supervision, alongside online counselling and supervision for clients and therapists throughout the UK.

## How I Can Help

People come to counselling for many different reasons. You may be experiencing anxiety, stress, trauma, relationship difficulties, low mood, bereavement or the effects of painful past experiences. You may feel overwhelmed, stuck or unsure of how to move forward.

I offer a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental therapeutic space where you can feel genuinely heard, understood and accepted. Therapy will move at a pace that feels safe and manageable for you. Together, we can explore what is happening in your life, make sense of your experiences and work towards meaningful and lasting change.

My experience includes supporting people with:

* Trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder, including PTSD
* Anxiety, stress and low mood
* Childhood and attachment-related experiences
* Relationship and family difficulties
* Loss, bereavement and significant life changes
* Work-related stress and professional burnout
* Emotional difficulties affecting children and young people
* Trauma experienced by police officers and emergency service personnel

## Trauma Therapy and EMDR

My counselling approach is integrative, which means I do not use one fixed method with every client. Instead, I tailor therapy to your individual needs, circumstances and therapeutic goals.

Where appropriate, I may incorporate EMDR therapy, the Rewind Technique and other established therapeutic approaches. EMDR and trauma-focused therapy can help people process distressing experiences that may continue to affect their emotions, relationships, confidence or day-to-day life.

I have particular experience supporting emergency service personnel, including police officers who have developed PTSD or trauma-related symptoms after witnessing or responding to distressing incidents during their careers.

Alongside my private practice, I work within schools, providing counselling, safeguarding and mental health support for children and young people.

## Counselling for Children and Young People

Children and young people do not always have the words to explain how they are feeling. Emotional distress may instead appear through changes in behaviour, anxiety, withdrawal, difficulties at school, low confidence or problems within relationships.

I provide a safe and supportive environment in which children and young people can explore their feelings and experiences in a way that is appropriate for their age and individual needs. My experience within educational settings also gives me a strong understanding of safeguarding, school-related pressures and the wider systems surrounding a young person.

## Clinical Supervision for Counsellors

I offer clinical supervision in Cumbria and online throughout the UK for trainee and qualified counsellors.

My approach to supervision is collaborative, reflective and supportive. I aim to create a supervisory relationship in which you feel safe to explore your client work openly, develop your clinical confidence and maintain ethical and effective practice.

Supervision is tailored to your level of experience, professional role and way of working. I encourage curiosity, self-awareness and professional growth, while keeping the wellbeing of both therapist and client at the heart of our work.

Clinical supervision may support you to:

* Reflect on complex client work
* Develop your therapeutic skills and confidence
* Explore risk, safeguarding and ethical dilemmas
* Understand relational and emotional dynamics
* Maintain appropriate professional boundaries
* Attend to your own wellbeing and resilience
* Meet the supervision requirements of your professional body

## Attachment-Focused Clinical Supervision

I am currently completing the Level 7 Diploma in Attachment-Based Psychotherapy with Optima Attachment.

From October 2026, I will begin offering attachment-focused clinical supervision as part of this specialist training. While I remain a trainee on the diploma, this supervision will initially be available at a reduced rate to reflect my trainee status at Level 7.

Attachment-focused supervision can help counsellors explore how early relational experiences, patterns of connection and protection, and dynamics within the therapeutic relationship may influence both the client and the practitioner.
