How Optima supports you on your Level 7 Journey

Level 7 training asks you to think deeply, clinically and personally, so support is built into the course from the beginning. You are not expected to arrive already feeling like an expert. You are supported to grow into more advanced attachment-focused practice, step by step.
You will be supported through:
  • A clear Level 7 learning pathway so you understand how the course develops and how each stage builds your clinical confidence, theoretical depth and professional identity.
  • Tutor guidance at key milestones to help you stay on track with your learning, written work, clinical thinking and research development.
  • Advanced teaching that links theory to real therapeutic practice, so attachment, trauma, relational process, rupture and repair, supervision and research all stay connected to the therapy room.
  • Support with research and critical thinking, helping you develop your ideas, engage with literature and connect research to meaningful clinical questions.
  • Case discussion and practice-based reflection, so you can explore how attachment-focused practice shows up in real client work, supervision, couples work or professional development.
  • A safe relational learning environment, where depth, uncertainty, challenge and vulnerability can be explored without you feeling exposed or left on your own.
  • Reflective work on yourself as therapist, including your own attachment responses, defences, relational patterns, countertransference and use of self in the therapeutic relationship.
  • Supportive challenge, because Level 7 learning should stretch you, but it should not leave you feeling unsupported.
  • Peer connection and cohort learning, giving you a thoughtful professional community where ideas, clinical questions and personal reflections can be shared.
  • Clear structure around assignments and expectations, so the academic level feels manageable, purposeful and connected to practice.
  • Space to develop your attachment-informed specialism, whether your focus is supervision, couples therapy, research, advanced clinical practice or senior professional development.
  • Encouragement beyond the course, including pathways into supervision, couples work, research-informed etc
