Attachment-informed therapy helps you make sense of the protective strategies, emotional responses and relational patterns that sit beneath the presenting issue.

This diploma gives you a practical, clinically grounded way to bring attachment theory into formulation, regulation, rupture and repair, and the therapeutic relationship itself.

Who is this course for?

You may have only touched briefly on attachment theory in your initial training, but you will already have met it in the therapy room: in shame, avoidance, mistrust, dysregulation and painful relational patterns.

Level 5 Momentum is for qualified counsellors and psychotherapists who want to deepen their attachment knowledge and complete the diploma over a shorter 24-week period. The learning remains the same; Momentum simply offers a different rhythm, with longer live online sessions that keep the course moving and allow you to reach completion sooner.

Throughout the diploma, you will develop a clearer understanding of what may be happening beneath difficult or confusing moments in therapy and learn to use attachment theory as a practical, clinically alive map for the therapeutic relationship.

As a student, you will be gently supported to explore your developing professional identity alongside your own values, assumptions, and lived experience. Through reflection, discussion, and relational learning, you will begin to notice how issues of power, difference, and positionality can show up in counselling relationships and in your work with clients. The workload has been difficult to manage at times and more than I expected it to be. I found completing the journals, learning reviews difficult to manage alongside writing assignments. For someone who had never done a CPCAB course before, this came as quite a shock. I also found mapping criteria difficult at first.
During breakout rooms, I never once made it to the last question, although I suspect this was because I was often too engaged in rich discussions.
II would wholeheartedly recommend this course to anyone seeking to deepen their understanding of theory and of self. I can honestly say the course has transformed the relationships in my life, not only with my loved ones, but with my clients and most importantly myself.
